South Plains Telephone Coop at It Again…
Dang these guys at SPTC. That’s who I get my internet service from. Now I’ll admit this is a telephone cooperative, so I don’t exactly expect them to be cutting edge, but I came home Friday after work to find that our internet had been inoperable since at least mid-afternoon. This time it was not the DSL as that light was lit on the modem, but nothing on the internet could be accessed.
It sured looked like a software or server problem on SPTC’s end. I waited through Friday figuring someone at SPTC surely monitors this stuff and would see it was down. When the outage extended into Saturday afternoon, however, I decided to call their toll free number to report the problem. The person who took my call was curteous enough, but they don’t work for SPTC. I’m sure they are just a call center hired to collect this info after hours and forward it on to whoever is “on call”.
Well, the outage extended into the middle of Sunday afternoon. I’ll give them credit for calling us back when they found and corrected the issue, but it was a crashed server after all. Why does it take more than 48 hours of outage for them to get a crashed server back in service? It must be because no one monitors this hardware! They are charging us over $30 a month for this and they don’t even monitor the equipment that provides the service! This is unbelievable! It leaves me wondering that if I had not called it in on Saturday afternoon if it would have taken until Monday morning to find and correct the problem.
That is just not acceptable service.
Maybe I should have kept my mouth shut…this morning the DSL is not working. Appears to be a DSL connectivity problem now.
You don’t suppose they heard about my ranting and cut me off?
It seems to me it’s been nothing but trouble with this outfit. I grow weary of it.
Yeah, we have similar issues with SPTC, especially on the e-mail. They’ve deleted our e-mail addresses three times in the last six years.
And this morning – no e-mail. Gotta wonder if they’ve deleted us again. Sigh.
