DirectTV Down!

Oh no!  It started this morning when some channels could be received and not others, and now my DirecTV receiver will not come up and function to receive any channels.  It gets stuck finding satellites after a reset.  If you let that fail, you can at least go to the setup menu and check the signals.  Nothing but odd transponders on 101(A), nothing on (B) and only odds on (C).  Some browsing around leads me to believe that means the LNB and/or multiswitch in the dish is wasted.  A storm blew through last night - could be physical damage.  I have not climbed up there yet because it’s stormy again today.

Ouch.  I don’t need this right now.  Too many bills already.  But…I have the HD package without the latest dish or receiver to allow receipt of all the HD channels they have rolled our recently.  I have the H10 without the special gadgets in the back that make all this new HD work, and the oval 3 LNB dish.  I could upgrade, for about 100 bucks.  Or put HD in both rooms for 200.  Or put HD w/DVR in one room and HD in the other for 300.  Yeah.

Or I could try to replace the LNBs and stay with what I have.

All so I can sit on my posterior even more than I already do.  Makes a lot of sense, doesn’t it?
